3 Tips to Prevent and Get Rid of Strawberry Legs for Good!

While strawberries are extremely delicious and good for you – “Strawberry Legs” are not.

Resembling many small black dots and bumps on the skin, strawberry legs are the result of hair follicles and enlarged pores that are clogged by a mixture of oil, bacteria, and dead skin.

This phenomenon happens mostly due to improper body hair removal methods – such as shaving with an old and dull razor, and is more common in ladies with dry and darker skin types. Worst case scenario, they lead to another problem – ingrown hairs. *GASP*

With that being said, here are some 3 helpful tips that can help you banish strawberry legs for good – so you can enjoy the fruit, and not the problem!

Tip #1: Exfoliate regularly

The very first, and most important step to getting rid of strawberry legs is to exfoliate.

Not only does it help loosen and remove the top layer of dead skin cells on the skin, exfoliating is a great way to clear the pores of dirt and debris that can act to exacerbate the problem.

Depending on your skin condition, you may exfoliate more or less regularly, using homemade versions such as a simple concoction of brown sugar and lemon juice, or baking soda and water.

Keeping your legs well exfoliated is one of the best ways to keep the strawberry legs at bay – which moves us to the next tip:

Tip #2: Moisturizers are going to be your new best friend

First you exfoliate. Then you moisturize.

As mentioned earlier, strawberry legs are more commonly seen in ladies with dry skin. This is why keeping it well moisturized is going to perfectly complement your exfoliating routine – a lotion containing Alpha Hydroxyl Acids (AHAs) such as glycolic acid is best suited for the condition, and works well as both a moisturizer and exfoliator to kill two birds with one stone.

Another good reason to moisturize is that it makes the skin less likely to get inflamed, and keeps it looking and feeling healthy! So, go ahead – moisturize daily and frequently!

Tip #3: Stop shaving altogether

Shaving is one of the leading causes of strawberry legs – using a blade again and again causes repeat trauma to the skin overtime, and increases the chances of razor bumps, ingrown hairs and irritation.

While it is completely possible to eliminate strawberry legs by getting down and dirty with D.I.Y. treatments, a more efficient and long-term solution will be to stop shaving completely. Instead, look for more effective hair removal methods – yes, we are talking about laser hair removal!

Since strawberry legs are caused by clogged hair follicles, one way to prevent the problem in the first place is to reduce hair growth. For existing conditions, the best laser hair removal treatments will also work to improve pigmentation – with our state-of-the-art Super Hair Removal (SHR) machines and Smooth Skin Control (S.S.C) treatment, we are able to deliver faster, more accurate and powerful shots to give you the smooth, fair and flawless legs you deserve!
