4 Tips To Take Care Of Your Skin After Body Hair Removal

Body hair removal is a journey, not a destination.

If you have already made a commitment to a SHR (Super Hair Removal) treatment – good on you! However, maintaining your results also means a lot of hard work on your end – starting with taking better care of your skin.

Skin that has just undergone laser treatment is much more sensitive and vulnerable – which is why we have prepared 4 must-know tips to help you with the aftercare process! Bonus: all these tips works great regardless of whether you shave, tweeze or wax!

Tip #1: Avoid using harsh ingredients and products.

Especially within the first few days before and after getting your treatment, make sure that you are avoiding makeup or skincare products (e.g. deodorant, body wash) that contains any harsh ingredients, including retinol or glycolic acid.

Reason being: your skin is highly-sensitive after treatment, and using anything harsh can irritate the skin and slow down the healing process. You can begin using these products again gradually, although it is highly-recommended to stick with gentler products from now on.

Tip #2: Be diligent with sunscreen and limit sun exposure.

As mentioned earlier, your skin is especially sensitive after just being exposed to intense light energy; meaning that the risks of hyperpigmentation, sunburn and damage is significantly increased.

Sunscreen should be an all-year round thing – but make sure that you are incorporating a solid sunscreen routine that involves regular touch-ups and a product of SPF30 and above if you are currently undergoing SHR treatment with us! The same goes no matter if you are having Brazilian hair removal, or anywhere else on the body.

Ideally, you will also want to limit your sun exposure as much as possible for at least the first 2 months after your session.

Tip #3: Exfoliate and moisturize!

The magic of SHR treatment happens during the first 30 days, where you will start to notice your hairs falling out naturally. During this time, it is important that you exfoliate your skin with warm water to protect it and facilitate the shedding process.

Then, replenish and lock in the moisture immediately by applying a layer of body cream or lotion to hydrate your skin. If you are still suffering from redness – applying aloe vera gel helps to soothe and moisturize at the same time!

During your SHR treatment, our specialists will be applying our unique Princess Gel™ that offers both moisturizing and whitening benefits to your skin, as well as an after-treatment gel to help manage any potential skin problems. Keeping your skin hydrated is key to allowing the skin to grow and heal – which eventually gives you that smooth and supple skin!

Tip #4: Come back for your next session!

Important to remember is that SHR treatment results are not immediate – and will take multiple sessions to achieve semi-permanent hair reduction. During your consultation with us, our specialists will recommend a custom treatment plan that includes the number of sessions you will need, as well as the recommended interval period between them.

During this time, it is important that you aren’t plucking or shaving as it can hinder your results and affect the hair growth cycle – an important factor that determines your end result!

By following these simple tips, you are well on your way to maximising your hair removal treatment to benefit from hair-free skin that looks significantly fresher, younger and more flawless!
